This coming Saturday, June 8, Bill Barron/Grant Robinson will start a class for Beginning Bridge.
It will be an eight-week course. The first lesson will be a complimentary introduction to this fascinating game. If you have friends or relatives interested in knowing more about what you spend hours doing each week, please invite them to come to DVBC, 12:30-2:30 on Saturday. See all our upcoming classes.
NAPS are happening this summer! We can have as many as two games for each session at DVBC. Here is the schedule (so far): Monday, 10 a.m., June 10 and June 24; Monday, 7:15 p.m., June 10 and June 24; Tuesday morning, 9:00, June 19; Wednesday morning, 8:50 a.m., June 19; Wednesday afternoon, 12:30 p.m., June 12 and June 26; Friday morning, 10 a.m., June 14 and June 28. This schedule is open to revision; there will be a printed schedule at DVBC. Players can qualify as many times as possible at the game level. Qualifying games award 50/50 red and black points at sectional rating. This is a wonderful opportunity to earn more points at a regular game. The cost will be $1.00 extra per player. COME AND PLAY! The July and August calendars will be somewhat similar, with as many as two games for each session at DVBC.
June 15, 2013 pre-Father's Day Swiss Team with free Chicken Salad Lunch - 12 noon, Gametime - 12:30pm
Hello All. Time to think about June 15 for a Swiss team game at DVBC. Practice for the weekend after at our own sectional; Iron Horse School. Standard table fees of $10 per person apply. The table fee for Father's on the pre-Father's Day game would be reduced by $5 IF they bring in a picture of themselves and and separate PIX of one of their children of 5 years or younger. Two different PIX. We'll have a little contest to see who among us can match up dad's and imps. Dad's only. Mom's we celebrated you a few weeks ago. A week or so ago we had a comfortable group and ran a handicapped event. The handicap is calculated by the ACBL score depending on the team points. The three top teams ended JUST 6 VICTORY POINTS APART. A trick here or there and the places could be reversed. This will be a club championship game so extra points available. Please e-mail me with your participation. Team members with points. IF you are a pair, or three, or a single let me know and I will work to match you up with a team. For those of you attending I will provide a wonderful chicken salad before the game as I did April 27. Some attending the last game stated that the salad was bad enough that they could ONLY handle THREE helpings. I cannot divulge what I put in the salad but and hour after eating my salad they said they had a craving for 60's brownies (kidding). If you don't know what this means then you need to talk to someone who was there in the 60's. So bridge and a FREE lunch.

Saturday Morning 99'r Game Resumed March 16, 2013
The Saturday morning Novice Game (99 or fewer master points) welcomes all interested newer players each week. The morning begins at 9:15 with a short lesson, then supervised play of 15 hands. Players can ask questions of the mentors. It is a great place to practice the things you have learned in classes and solidify your understanding.

Pre-Dealt Hands
Since acquiring a dealing machine in 2010, almost all games have used pre-dealt hands with printed hand records for players to review after the game. This is a terrific learning tool for bridge. A big THANK YOU to Unit 499, for assisting with the purchase of the machine and for subsidizing half the cost. Grant Robinson prepared detailed procedures for creating and uploading game results that include hand records.
Dori Dolgin is now helping to generate the hands with the dealing machine. She does a terrific job! Please tell her Thank You!
